The Benefits of Routine Maintenance & Home Upkeep

Owning a home is one of life’s most rewarding experiences, but it can also be a daunting responsibility. From the moment we get the keys to our new abode, we envision a lifetime of memories within its walls. Yet, as with all good things, maintaining a home requires effort, time, and sometimes, a little bit of elbow grease. Here’s why keeping your home in tip-top shape not only increases its value and longevity but also enhances your overall enjoyment.

Identifying Problems or Areas Needing an Upgrade

It all starts with a keen eye. Walk through each room of your house and note down any areas that need attention. Is there a leaky faucet in the bathroom? Does the paint in the living room look faded? Or maybe the kitchen could use a modern touch? These small observations, often overlooked in the hustle and bustle of daily life, are the first steps towards a well-maintained home.

DIY or Call the Pros?

Once you’ve identified the areas needing improvement, the next question is whether to tackle the project yourself or call in the professionals. Some tasks, like changing a light bulb or tightening a loose cabinet door, are simple enough for anyone to handle. But others, like electrical work or plumbing, might require expert intervention. A good rule of thumb is to measure the complexity and potential risks involved. If you find yourself watching YouTube tutorials on repeat and still feeling unsure, it’s probably best to call a pro.

Finding a Competent and Trustworthy Tradesman

This is where things can get tricky. Not every handyman with a toolbox is equipped to deliver the results you want. Take the time to research and find reputable tradesmen. Ask for recommendations from friends and family, read reviews online, and don’t be afraid to ask for references. A competent professional will not only do the job right but will also provide peace of mind.

Stay Involved and Communicative

Once the work is underway, resist the urge to be a passive observer. Watch and pay attention as the project progresses. This is your home, after all. Make sure to have open lines of communication with your home care professional. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or raise concerns. Their job is to ensure you’re satisfied with the outcome, and your involvement can help catch any potential issues before they become bigger problems.

Enjoy Your Newly Repaired or Upgraded Home

Finally, the best part of all—sitting back and enjoying the fruits of your labor (or someone else’s labor, depending on your approach). There’s an immense sense of satisfaction that comes from knowing your home is well-cared-for. Not only does it look and function better, but it also feels better. Each upgrade, each repair, adds to the comfort and joy of your living space.

Routine maintenance and home upkeep might seem like a chore, but they are crucial for ensuring your home remains a safe, comfortable, and valuable asset. By taking the time to identify problems, deciding when to DIY or hire a professional, finding trustworthy tradesmen, staying involved throughout the process, and finally, relishing the improvements, you can truly enhance your home’s value and your own enjoyment of it.

Remember, your home is more than just a building. It’s a space where memories are made, where you find comfort and refuge. Treat it with the care and attention it deserves, and it will reward you with years of happiness and satisfaction. Happy home improving!

New Living Room Paint

We went into a very nice home last week and the homeowner wanted a change. She had two different colors on the walls but had decided to go with one, uniform color to brighten the space up!

It’s a common question, “Can we do that?”

Of course we can do that!

It sounds like an easy answer, but we always approach a homeowner’s space with a great amount of respect.

We talked about what would be a good time to start work, colors involved, agreed on price, and then set the date for work and. On that morning, rolled in, spread plastic, remove light switch and receptacle covers, and started giving the walls some extra prep near the ceiling (two walls had 12′ ceilings).

While that was drying, we went ahead and started painting the two shorter 8′ walls.

AFTER – Dolphin Fin (kind of an off white/grey) on the walls with wood stained trim 🙂

Once that was done, we hit the tall walls … The whole time, it was important to have razor sharp paint lines and absolutely NO MESS! After that, we went back around the room again, touched up, cleaned up, and the homeowner was thrilled with the new space. It was much brighter and cleaner looking and her husband thought it looked like a new house – ALL IN ONE DAY!

The best part of ANY job is when you can drive away from somebody’s house and know that they are satisfied and happy with the job you completed.

Our customer’s satisfaction is what we aim for every, single, time!
